about kongoboken …

The title refers to the text of a manuscript published in 1932 by a Dutch Mission stationed in French Congo. The oral histories detailed in the book describe a secret indigenous tribe deep in the jungle that maintained a level of science considered magic by the surrounding natives. There were vehicles that could defy gravity and fly about and machines in the surrounding mountains that somehow distorted the valley below so as to hide its very existence. If it were not for the fact that the book was published in 1932, I’d say it was an early screenplay for the Wakanda portraited in the movie Black Panther. Actually, except for the first 20 words of this page, the spuriousness of the descriptions of advanced technological prowess in a Congo society hidden behind light bending engines approaches certainty. A more accurate explanation is needed.
