Good People

need to be singled out and today I’d like to honor David Zinn (I like the 2 nn’s). David was born in 1973 and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is a Street Artist. For 20 years from 1987, David spent his free time wandering streets looking for artistic inspiration. David’s inspiration is not found in normal images. Here’s  an example of his work:

This was probably just a hole or crack in the sidewalk when David spied it. The crazy part of Daid’s art is it’s done on the sidewalk (mostly) in chalk and charcoal and will wash away with the first dog piss or rain shower. Most of his creations appear on sidewalks in Michigan, but many have surfaced as far away as subway platforms in Manhattan, village squares in Sweden and street corners in Taiwan. If you’d like to see this artist actually make something (in a speeded-up film) here’s a link to a friend’s Podcast who did a show on David. There are 2 short videos that will show a complete sidewalk art creation. The second in the best. Do you know how long that flower will last – not very. Here’s the link:

David has found a way to commercialize his talents and he can now create his art full time anywhere he desires. It’s not EXACTLLY like the lady at Acme who decorates the cupcakes. Every cupcake just a little different. Everyone enchanting in its own colorful swirly creamed extravaganza way. Thank you, David Zinn. Thank you, Cupcake Lady (I will ask your name). And to all the artists who create something to admire or eat or hang or drink or whatever. Thank you for your service.
